Reasons to be Proud - #R2bP: Mandela University’s Centre for Research in Information and Cyber Security (CRICS) has been awarded the prestigious ISACA South Africa Contribution Award.

ISACA* (previously known as the Information Systems Audit and Control Association) in South Africa host this national awards event where the highest honour is bestowed by the Chapter on individuals in the appreciation of their active roles in the field of technology, information and cyber security, governance, risk and innovation in the country.

The Contribution Award is made to an individual and/or organisation that has made a solid/significant contribution to research, education, publications, or other developments and activities in the field of Information Security risk management, audit & assurance, governance, security and cybersecurity.

CRICS aims to address all types of activities that can assist in enhancing information and cyber security in general. A large part of this focus tends towards the academic and research inclination, as evidenced by their list of academic publications. However, this nomination focuses on another aspect of the work done at CRICS: The teaching, development and preparation of students and graduates for the world of work. CRICS is housed in the School of ICT and the ISACA team is led by Prof Mariana Gerber and Prof Reinhardt Botha.

*As an independent, non-profit, global association, ISACA engages in the development, adoption and use of globally accepted, industry-leading knowledge and practices for information systems. Previously known as the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, ISACA now goes by its acronym only, to reflect the broad range of IT governance professionals it serves.
