Volunteers from the University played a key role in facilitating various physical activities throughout the day.

A healthy lifestyle encompasses many aspects, but the campaign emphasises that physical wellness forms the cornerstone of overall well-being, including emotional and psychological health.
George Campus Sports Manager, Siphesihle Jobo, stressed the importance of student wellness, stating, “Student wellness is a continuous challenge, and encouraging participation in extra-mural activities or organised sports is one way to help mitigate these challenges.”
By collaborating with the I Choose 2 B Active campaign, the University not only raises awareness about lifestyle choices but also equips students with knowledge about the benefits of physical activity.
This initiative aims to create an environment that fosters student growth and success in all aspects of life, extending to various university departments, including Universal Accessibility and Disability Services, Emthonjeni Student Wellness, First-Year Success, and the Arts, Culture, and Heritage Department. This cross-departmental involvement ensures a holistic approach to student well-being, recognising the diverse needs of the University community.
“Through continued partnerships, this initiative will not only remain successful but also provide a platform for meaningful engagement.” Additionally, the campaign celebrates the University’s diverse cultural community by blending fitness with tradition, reinforcing a sense of identity and belonging through physical wellness.
