Announced on 28 March this year, the Glenna Luschei Prize for African Poetry is funded by literary philanthropist and poet Glenna Luschei, and is the only pan-African book prize of its kind.
It promotes African poetry written in English or in translation by recognising a significant book published each year by a poet associated with Africa.
The winner was Tawanda Mulalu for his debut collection Please make me pretty, I don’t want to die: Poems.
Linda, who writes poetry under her maiden name as Linda Ann Strang, is also the editor-in-chief of Hotazel Review.
Her poetry has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize (2007), and longlisted for the Bridport Prize (2012), and for the University of Canberra Vice-Chancellor’s International Poetry Prize (2018).
Linda’s poetry and short stories have been published in over 60 journals and anthologies worldwide, including in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, and South Africa.
These journals include [PANK], Poetry Kanto, Orbis, Hollins Critic, Gone Lawn, The Malahat Review, Hunger Mountain, and New Contrast.
Linda’s first collection, Wedding Underwear for Mermaids, was published in 2011 in the United Kingdom.
She has an MA in English and a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education from Mandela University. In addition, she has published academic papers in the field of higher education studies.
