“It was adopted by the Presidential Climate Commission on 16 February and greeted wth enthusiasm and praise from a range of respondents including BUSA, NEDLAC and SALGA, says team leader Professor Janet Cherry (right) from Development Studies.
“We are hoping that this national intervention will make an important contribution to the just transition from fossil fuels and sustainable development pathways.
Mandela University was commissioned by the Presidential Climate Commission to undertake this research. Prof Darelle van Greunen, Director of the Centre for Community Technologies assisted Prof Cherry and the rest of the team consisted of colleagues and postgraduate students.
These included Mareka Mokwatlo from Development Studies and SAIMI, Irna Senekal from CIPSET, Prof Bernd Siebenhuner from Oldenburg University, Tony Martel, Likhaya Ngqezana and Patrick Brennan from Development Studies, colleagues from the CCT, as well as Holle Wlokas and Maureen Ntshudisane as external consultants.
