This comes after he was appointed by the Minister of Health to serve as a member of the Professional Board for Psychology (2020-2025). As chairperson of the Board for Psychology, Dr August will also serve on the HPCSA’s Council.
Dr August was instrumental in leading the Psychometrics Committee of the Board for Psychology in redefining the way Psychological tests are classified, as well as developing guidelines for the teaching of Psychometrics in South Africa.
He is consulted widely by professionals, stakeholders and university departments, guiding them on programme-specific content as well as on the teaching of psychometrics. His research focuses on the application of psychological assessment and its practice in South Africa. He also has a keen interest in practitioner cultural competence in working with clients from diverse contexts.
