Nelson Mandela University was extensively featured on WoodBiz, WoodBiz Africa is the only digital B2B trade journal for the forestry, sawmilling, timber construction, wood products, engineered board products, furniture and woody biomass industries in Southern and East Africa,  particularly page 3 to 5, 10, and 43 to 47 where our HoD her colleagues were featured.

TIPWG funded research

To close this knowledge gap, Forestry South Africa (FSA's) Timber Industry Pesticide Working Group (TIPWG) commissioned and funded a PhD student, Noxolo Ndlovu, from Nelson Mandela University (NMU), to investigate the environmental behaviour of pesticides and risks posed by their use within South African forest plantations.

Richard Müller, NMU

Richard Müller of Nelson Mandela University (NMU) welcomed several graduates now working in the industry and attending their first SALDEA. His left-field presentation on A simple method to assess the moisture content of fuel wood took the delegates by surprise.

Third prize for their design of a  biodiversity Skills Centre 

Students Chiloane Thabang, Njabulo Ngwenya, Andile Gxubane and Lutho Mhlauli, a team of second-year students in the Architectural Technology faculty at Nelson Mandela University (NMU), took home third prize for their design of a  biodiversity Skills Centre that complements the Lapalala Wilderness School in Limpopo.
