Reasons to be Proud - #R2bP: 2019 has been an auspicious year for the Visual Arts department with four graphic design students being nominated as finalists for the renowned packaging design competition, Student Goldpack and one student winning the Gold Trophy for the best design nationally.

At a high-profile event held recently in Johannesburg, Angeline van Hillo, won the Gold Trophy for the best package design nationally. Students were required to design packaging by choosing from one of three categories: Soap packaging, creating a big brand from an existing brand, or packaging for porridge.

Together with being finalists, these 3rd-year graphic design students walked away with eight awards in total; including, Bronze Award for best package design nationally (Tamara Appolis), Best in category (Angeline van Hillo), Runner-up in category (Tamara Appolis), and finalists Zandri Daneel and Michelle Stockwell.

Top achiever, Angeline, will be a guest at the National Propack Professional Awards and her work will also be represented at the International Student Packaging Awards in the near future.

These talented graphic designers intend to pursue further studies in the Bachelor of Visual Arts Honours programme in 2020.
