Change the world

12/10/2021

With undergraduate applications to study at Nelson Mandela University in 2022 having closed on 30 September, the institution has already made admissions offers to 15548 as compared to 14 603 at the same time last year.

As the demand for places far exceeds the number of places available across the institution’s programmes, the University will be engaging directly with applicants who have been given provisional offers and those given firm offers via e-mail and text messaging to ascertain their decision to study at Mandela University.

The competition for study places is high with many programmes already full, and so confirmation of acceptance will be imperative for applicants. Failure to respond may lead to applicants losing their study spot for a particular programme.

Confirmation messaging
In seeking confirmation of the applicants’ decision going forward, the University hopes to provide greater clarity for those already on the reserve lists for certain programmes. All applicants will be targeted directly to advise of their decision in the near future. The link will also be shared via our social media platforms.

Supporting information
Apart from the confirmation messaging, applicants will receive information to help them with their decision. This information will include news on funding support, residence applications and what to expect as a Madibaz student.

Additionally, prospective students can check out the My Future website https://myfuture.mandela.ac.za/ or liaise directly with the University’s Contact Centre via info@mandela.ac.za

Funding support (NSFAS)
Undergraduate NSFAS applications have not yet opened. Applicants should not, however, be discouraged from accepting the offer from Mandela University because of this. Applicants should continue to monitor the NSFAS website to apply for funding support as soon as it does open.

Numbers
The University has capacity for about 6600 first-time entering students and, as shared, many of the programmes are already full, with reserve lists in place. See full list of programmes. https://applyonline.mandela.ac.za/NoNewIntake.aspx

Yet to hear?
Given the large volume of applications that are presently still being processed, many applicants may not yet have heard the outcome of their application. Applicants are urged to track the progress of their application online. https://www.mandela.ac.za/.../Admission/Admission-dashboard

This process will only be concluded in a few weeks’ time.
