Reasons to be Proud - #R2bP: During the recent Association of South African Quantity Surveyors (ASAQS) Virtual Presidential Tour and Awards Ceremony, BSc Honours in Quantity Surveying graduate, Michael Venter, won the ASAQS Gold Medal Award for outstanding academic achievement during the 2019 academic year.

The Gold Medal is awarded at a national  level to one BSc Honours (QS) graduate (as well as to one BTech (QS) graduate, whose academic achievements in both their undergraduate and postgraduate studies, are of outstanding merit and whose personal qualities promise to positively contribute to the Quantity Surveying profession. Other criteria include extramural activities, community engagement, social responsibility, personal and leadership qualities.

Michael passed both his BSc Construction Economics and BSc Honours degrees cum laude. During his studies, Michael received numerous academic awards including the Dean’s Award in the School of the Built Environment and Civil Engineering. He also received the ASAQS Future Leader Award in 2019.

While studying, Michael was actively involved in community engagement projects. He is currently working in Dubai as a Candidate Quantity Surveyor.
