Reasons to be Proud - #R2bP: Fourth year Education student and Madibaz Sport Student Assistant, Thabiso Letselebe was recently appointed to the International University Sport Federation (FISU) Media & Communications International Working Committee.

In addition, on the African continent, he has been appointed to the Confederation of University & Colleges Sport Region V (CUCSA) (Southern Africa Region) Media & Communications committee, also for the period 2021-2023.

The FISU appointment is significant for Thabiso and USSA (University Sport South Africa) as he is the only candidate from Africa’s national university sport federations to be appointed. His key roles on both of these committees will be to advise on all matters related to advertising and media coverage, cooperating and liaising with international press associations, advising and collaborating with the organising committees of sport events in the region to reach the widest possible audience, ensuring that organising committees provide adequate services for the media etc.

“I am proud to be serving Madibaz Sport, Nelson Mandela University, and the country on the international stage. As a young sport administrator, all I want is an opportunity and platform to be able to make a difference” says Thabiso.

He is no stranger to leadership roles having served as SRC Sport Officer in 2019, member of the National Working Committee of the USSA Student Forum in 2019 and member of the National Executive Committee of USSA from 2019 to 2023.
