As partners for more than 27 years, a delegation from Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg recently visited Mandela University, to attend to and review its Five-year Road Map (framework) and activities.

 

The current Five-Year Road Map was signed in 2023 during the 25th anniversary celebrations in Oldenburg.

Apart from the annual board meeting, the delegates also met with academics and researchers from Mandela University, who are currently collaborating with counterparts in Oldenburg, including those from the Energy Research Group, Institute for Coastal and Marine Research, Education and Health Sciences.

The delegates also visited the Masifunde Change Maker Academy and met with colleagues from the Engagement Office’s Hubs of Convergence.

Mandela University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sibongile Muthwa chaired the Board Meeting, with DVC: Research, Innovation and Internationalisation, Prof Azwinndini Muronga, Executive Dean: Humanities, Prof Pamela Maseko, Senior Director: Strategic Resource Mobilisation and Advancement (SRMA), Dr Denver Webb, Senior Director: Office for International Education (OIE), Prof Judy Peter, staff from OIE and delegates from the University of Oldenburg attending.

Prof Ralph Bruder was the leader of the Oldenburg delegation, comprising further of the Vice-President for Academic Career Paths, Equal Opportunities and International Affairs, Prof Katharina Al-Shamery, Ambassador of the Partnership, Prof Karsten Speck, Head of International Office, Jenka Schmidt and the Regional Coordinator and Study Abroad Advisor for Africa, Asia, Oceania and Russia, Roman Behrens.
