Change the world

08/08/2020

The Centre for Women and Gender Studies at Nelson Mandela University, together with the Political and International Studies Department at Rhodes University and the English Department at the University of Pretoria, wishes to convey its deepest condolences to the family, friends, colleagues and students of the late Executive Dean of the Health Sciences Faculty, Prof Lungile Pepeta.

Prof Pepeta’s loss marks a great shift in our personal and professional lives as he touched many of us with his excellent scholarly and leadership contribution to the university. We therefore deemed it proper that as part of the Nelson Mandela University community, we postpone the Celebrating the African Women’s Intellectual Histories: Inyathi Ibuzwa kwabaPhambili colloquium, meant to have taken place on 9-10 August, to the 28-29 August 2020.

The programme and Zoom webinar details will remain the same, and any changes will communicated in due course.

We wish to afford Prof Pepeta’s family and the University community time to mourn and grieve.

Further queries on this statement can be directed to the Organising Committee members, Ms Nomtha Menye (Nomtha.Menye@mandela.ac.za) or Ms Siphokazi Tau (Siphokazi.tau@mandela.ac.za).
