09/05/2024

Our School of Accounting Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (CTA) class of 2024 attained an 85% pass rate in the January ITC (Initial Test of Competency) SAICA January exam sitting compared to the national average for first timers at 79%.

Mandela University is also placed at the top of the Eastern Cape institutions and in the top half of accredited residential universities.

The ITC, a benchmarking examination of SAICA accredited universities, is the first of two qualifying examinations, which assesses the technical competence  of candidates

The second examination is the Assessment of Professional Competence.

A total of 1726 candidates passed the first sitting of whom 52 were from Mandela University.

The Department is particularly proud of its contribution towards transformation of the Profession and in particular the performance of our Thuthuka Bursary holders who attained a 92% pass rate.

“Congratulations to all our students and a heartfelt thank you to all the staff who have contributed to the growth and development of our students in attaining this milestone in their journey towards qualification as Chartered Accountants,” said Accounting Department Head Prof Amanda Singleton.
