Change the world

16/11/2021

On Wednesday (17 November 2021), Nelson Mandela University will officially join hands with Rescue SA via a virtual launch to help build capacity for rescue training and to assist with specialised rescue operations locally, nationally and beyond.

Rescue SA has moved about 60 tons of equipment, including vehicles and boats valued at more than R30-million, to Mandela University and the Eastern Cape, where it believes it can add much greater value through ongoing practical exposure.

As an engaged institution committed to being in the service of society, we strive to foster collaborations with stakeholders whose work and ethos mirrors this commitment.

This partnership will greatly benefit both our Health Sciences students, particularly those undertaking the four-year Emergency Medical Care degree, and the communities that the University serves across the Metro and further afield.

The launch, on 17 November 2021, will be of particular interest to all those involved in healthcare and rescue operations, as well as prospective students interested in pursuing a degree in the Health Sciences Faculty.

The event is virtual and includes footage of rescue operations and volunteer opportunities, followed by a question and answer session.
