Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Andre Keet, congratulated students and students receiving a total of 76 awards for their excellence at contributing to excellence in Higher Education. Staff and students are interdependent on each other, and it was inspiring for both to share their celebrations and reasons for excellence.

The four Vice-Chancellor Awards were presented to the top achievers in their categories:
Beuty Matsimela: Best First Diploma - Human Resource Management (Business and Economic Sciences)
Troy Palframan: Best First Degree – BSc in Computer Science
Ashley Eichstadt: Best postgraduate award in Social Sciences and Humanities – Honours in Psychology (Health Sciences)
Kade Tissink: Best postgraduate award in Science, Engineering and Technology – MSc in Computer Science and Information Systems (Science)

Thulisile Mkhwanazi: Master’s Degree by Dissertation: Science, Engineering and Technology. Master’s degree in IT. Cyber security policy guidelines for digitalisation in SA from a government policy perspective.
Master’s awards
Atlehang Nkotha: Master’s degree by dissertation in Social Sciences and Humanities – MCom in Business Management. Atlehang’s research focused on increasing opportunity awareness and strategies to support student entrepreneurs beyond the business start-up phase.
Kade Tissink: Master’s Degree by Dissertation: Science, Engineering and Technology. Kade’s master’s research in computer science and information systems focused on leveraging machine learning to automate the translation of English sentences into first-order logic. This enables information retrieval and question answering through natural language communication with machines.
Stacey Jameson: Masters by coursework in Social Sciences and Humanities – Stacey’s master’s research in clinical psychology focused on young people growing up in environments marked by violence, their challenges and how these experiences affect their mental health and development
