Following a consultative meeting today between Dr Blade Nzimande, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Universities South Africa (USAf) Executive Committee and other stakeholders, a decision was reached to advise Universities and TVET colleges to call for an early Recess from Wednesday, 18 March 2020.
I therefore wish to advise the University community that, following our decision yesterday to suspend learning and teaching, we officially go on early Recess from tomorrow.
Detailed communication pertaining to both the sector-wide and various institutional responses, will accordingly follow in the course of Wednesday, 18 March 2020.
