Change the world

20/07/2021

Due to the present national shortage of the Pfizer vaccine, Mandela University will be switching to the one-shot J&J vaccine from tomorrow (Wednesday, 21 July).

This switch is in line with a directive from the Department of Health (DOH), which is guiding the national COVID-19 vaccination programme. Therefore, all those who come for the first time tomorrow will receive the J&J vaccine.

Only staff members and members of the public who are due to receive their second Pfizer jab should visit the vaccination centre. However, with only a limited number of this vaccine still available at the institution, such individuals may have to wait until next week when, according to the DoH, additional Pfizer vaccines are expected in the country.

Please advise colleagues on your own networks of this change, which is beyond the University’s control, and is part of a national challenge.

The University will endeavour to keep staff, students and the public informed of any changes. Please monitor the University’s vaccine rollout webpage or follow us on our social media platforms.
