Mandela University emeritus professor receives SA Mathematical Award for research distinction #R2bP

Reasons to be Proud - #R2bP: Professor Stefan Veldsman, Emeritus Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, was recently awarded the South African Mathematical Award for Research Distinction.

Prof Veldsman is the 29^th recipient of this award, which is made at most once a year and which dates from 1983.

He received the award at the annual SAMS (South African Mathematical Society) Congress, held at the University of Pretoria early in December 2024.

The SAMS Award for Research Distinction recognises and stimulates excellence in research in South Africa and is only made in recognition of important research contributions to South African Mathematics or to the applications of Mathematics in any field.

The Award is presented in the form of a silver Möbius band with golden rim and appropriate inscription.
