Reasons to be Proud - #R2bP: BCom Financial Planning student from Nelson Mandela University Yonela Peter has been selected by the DHL GradStar Awards 2022 as one of the Top Ten most employable full-time students in the country.

Another four Mandela University students have made it to the Top 100 in the country. They are Alfred Adjei (LLB), Monalisa Mapapu (Advanced Dip Business Studies) Alulutho Cita (BTech Human Resources Management) and Hlengiwe Nzama BCom Financial Planning.

These students were judged and found to have the qualities and attributes of a successful future employee.

For the past seven years thousands of students from all over the country have entered the DHL GradStar Awards, which have been awarded to the Top 100 students annually to be recognised by the top employers in the land.

Sponsored by DHL, and also supported by top employers Epiroc, Fasken, Absa, FutureFit Academy, and Golden Key Honours Society, the Awards are taken seriously by employers, the organisers say. Over the past two years, now more than ever, students have recognised their need to be noticed by employers to secure employment for the future.

Laura Barker – founder of the GradStar Awards and CEO of BlackBark Productions observed: “During this time of COVID, employers need to stay relevant and visible to the workforce of the future, and through the GradStar Programme we have found a way to bridge the gap between the university and the world of work. We are happy to be back to a live event and wish all of the Top 100 all the best for the remainder of the competition.”

The Top 100 Finalists engaged in a full day of workshops with the Sponsor Employers on 1 December after which Top Ten were announced at a live Gala dinner in the evening.

Students are urged to download the GradStar App, to network with other students and be matched with employers looking for their skill sets. Free from all app stores.
