Prof Shelley Farrington and Mr Riyaad Ismail from the Department of Business Management at Mandela University have released the results of their project titled Improving Student Entrepreneurship Support at South African Public Universities in order to Mitigate Youth Unemployment.
The project got underway in 2020 and is a joint initiative between Mandela Uni, the University of Pretoria and Ghent University in Belgium. Funds for the project were provided by VLIR-UOS, an organisation that supports partnerships between universities in Flanders and the Global South. The project aimed to identify and distribute best practices in university-based student entrepreneurship support at South African public universities.
To achieve these aims, a project report and three case studies have been prepared. Endorsed by Entrepreneurship Development in Higher Education’s (EDHEs) director, Dr Norah Clarke, and the University’s Karen Snyman (EDHE’s student entrepreneurship community of practice deputy chairperson), these documents are now available to all interested entrepreneurship stakeholders on the University’s Department of Business Management website, accessible through the following link: https://bit.ly/NMUWebsite.
