Reasons to be Proud - #R2bP: Mandela University students and members at the Madibaz Debating Union, Sibusisiwe Jaggers and Liso Zenani, recently represented the University at the inaugural Africa Inter-Varsities Debating Championship, making it through to the Grand Final.

The Africa Inter-Varsities Debating Championship was an inaugural virtual debating tournament convened by the Royalty Pact Debating Academy which saw debating societies from universities across the continent competing with each other. As one of the biggest African debating tournaments, it brought together over 100 debaters representing 60 higher education institutions from across the continent.

Sibusisiwe (pictured left), a second-year BCom Law student, and Liso, a third-year LLB student, were ranked as the sixth-best overall team and made it into the partial semi-finals. After highly competitive out-rounds, they progressed to the Grand Final, where they lost to the UNISA.

Liso was selected as the Best Speaker of the Final.
