Reasons to be Proud - #R2bP: Final year law student, Liso Zenani, flew the flag high at the annual Uhuru World Debate Championship (UWDC) held recently, making it to the grand finals of the English Second Language category.

The Championship, held online this year, saw 44 countries taking part in the competition, bringing together 400 debaters, 100 judges, and over 40 countries from across the world.

The competition was held across two time zones and three divisions, namely the Open Category (the highest category for the highest skilled and most fluent debaters), the ESL category (English as Second Language), and the Schools Category (for students at secondary education level).

Liso was ranked among the top 25 speakers in the ESL category.

The 2019/20 Chairperson of the Madibaz Debating Union was also elected as Chairperson of the Southern African Universities Debating Council, a council made up of heads of delegations from the Debating societies of universities across the SADC region.
