Reasons to be Proud - #R2bP: Mandela University Alumnus, Sizi Matthews Botsime who completed his Bachelor of Psychology degree in 2007, recently received an AKS Global Teacher Award – for the second year in a row.

The purpose of the awards is to recognise and honour individuals and institutions that have made significant contributions to the educational system in India and abroad.

The Global Teacher Award aims to actively reach out to all corners of the world to recognise exceptional teachers who have made an outstanding contribution to their profession. The award honours teachers who have demonstrated excellence in teaching different subjects, shown outstanding contribution to learners and served the community through teaching - even outside formal classrooms.

After his Psychology degree, Sizi went on to complete a PGCE in Social Sciences & Life Orientation from Rhodes and an Advanced Diploma in Remedial Education from the University of Johannesburg. He is a qualified teacher/remedial therapist/learning support specialist and special education needs teacher. In his years of teaching, he has developed a passion for working with children diagnosed or exhibit autism spectrum disorders and aims to establish an academy in future to equip them with knowledge and skills to be self-reliant.

Currently, he is teaching Grade 4 at the Canadian International School of Egypt.
