Professor Magda Minguzzi
Prof Minguzzi is the Leader of the Indigenous Knowledge Systems of the Built Environment Unit -IKSBEU.
Her well-known research features among others the fish traps along the Eastern Cape coast, as well as the built environment with the Matjieshut workshop earlier this year on the University’s South Campus.
“This issue highlighted the importance of empowering the First Nation youth and advancing initiatives that support the recognition, restoration and celebration of the unique cultural heritage of the First Nations of South Africa.
“It is encouraging to see these important conversations receiving national attention and contributing to broader processes of cultural revitalisation, Prof Minguzzi said.
Chief Zenzile Khoisan, Chief Editor of First Nation News, is doing incredibly important work in creating a platform that amplifies First Nation voices and perspectives, she said.
