Nelson Mandela University’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Sibongile Muthwa will virtually welcome all new first-year students and their families to the institution in an address that will be premiered live on Saturday, 6 March on the University’s You Tube Channel.

All new students – those who have already registered online, received a final offer to study or who are on the Reserve List for full programmes – can listen to Prof Muthwa at 9am as the institution prepares to officially start lectures on 15 March.

The University has hosted a number of virtual Faculty Welcomes for new students this week, all of which are housed on our YouTube channel and our webinars page 

The virtual format was introduced for safety reasons owing to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

As many as 6000 new first-year students are expected to register at Mandela University this year.

These students, many of whom are already engaged in a pre-university orientation programme via WhatsApp groups, will more to the more formal online Orientation programmes with their faculties from 8 March.

All new and senior students are expected at their on and off-campuses residences totomorrow (5 March) to begin their ten-day quarantine period.
