Reasons to be Proud: Congratulations to Imtiaz Khan from the Department of Research Capacity Development (RCD) who received the Designated Authority award for 2017 at the National Research Foundation’s Research Administrators Workshop recently.

The National Research Foundation (NRF) recently hosted its annual Research Administrators Workshop (RAW) in Cape Town. Delegates from all Higher Education Institution's (HEI's), Research Science Councils and stakeholders from across the country and continent attended the three day workshop aimed at “Working together, creating efficiency” – the theme for this year’s event.

Imtiaz Khan from the Department of Research Capacity Development (RCD) was honoured at this year's RAW by recieving the best Designated Authority (DA) award for 2017 in recognition of exceptional service as a DA.

Imtiaz was selected to recieve the award above 219 other DA's, for his understanding of the NRF's grant management processes, NRF compliance, going beyond the call of duty and working together with the NRF in their pursuit towards excellence and service delivery.

Imtiaz said: “I feel honoured to recieve this award, especially since it is the first of its kind for our institution. Being recognised for one of the values our institution stand for is very satisfying, but nothing is more pleasing for me than to come to work everyday and be surrounded by colleagues at RCD who all strive for excellence in their job."
