Change the world

South African Reserve Bank (SARB) governor, Lesetja Kganyago, will deliver a public lecture at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) this afternoon.

Mr Kganyago – whose office maintains price stability in the form of the inflation target set by government after consultation with the Bank in a bid for balanced and sustainable economic growth in the country – will address a multi-stakeholder audience at the NMMU Business School auditorium.

The South African economist and central banker will present his lecture, titled “The influence of South Africa’s price setting environment on monetary policy trajectory”, to an extensive audience that includes businesspeople and academics.

With the Reserve Bank’s mandate critical to the country’s financial and economic stability, Mr Kganyago has reportedly expressed concern over the dispute between Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and the Hawks, which saw the Rand take a dip in the wake of threats of the former’s arrest last month.

An overflow venue has been prepared, at Room 0002, where the lecture will be streamed live from the auditorium.

The public may also live stream the lecture using this link:
