Organised by and hosted by the national uYilo eMobility Programme, the Batteries and Electric Vehicle Conference will be held at Nelson Mandela University, Engineering Building (276), Gardham Avenue, Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth. With a global thought leadership focus on electric vehicles and the infrastructure and industry surrounding the growing market for e-mobility, the conference has a list of 21 local and international speakers.

The keynote speakers for the conference are Mr Shmuel De-Leon (Shmuel De-Leon Energy) and Ms Christina Bu (Secretary General, Norwegian EV Association). De-Leon will speak on “The Lithium-ion battery Market 2018” with Bu covering "The Norwegian Electric Vehicle Success".
The Batteries and Electric Vehicle Conference coincides with Transport Month in South Africa and takes place soon after the Minister of Transport for South Africa, Dr Bongikosi Nzimande, signed the Green Transport Strategy document. This document will shape the development of more sustainable transport solutions for South Africa into the future.
The National Department of Transport has highlighted that direct emissions from the road transport sector accounting for two-thirds of transport-related greenhouse gases and electric vehicles have been promoted as one of the transportation technologies to mitigate fossil-fuel related emissions.
The two-day conference will create an enabling environment for information sharing and networking with contacts around the world, for delegates working in the battery and electric vehicle environment.
