Change the world

Anti-apartheid struggle activist the Reverend Frank Chikane says South Africa desperately needs selfless leaders who are committed in serving the people.

He was speaking at the unveiling of the Madiba (Nelson Mandela) shirt sculpture at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape.

The sculpture was created by the university's art students as part of celebrating 10 years since the renaming of the institution.

When you go to that garden then you are reminded about Beyers Naude an Afrikaner who crossed the line and identified himself as part of the people

The university also unveiled a Beyers Naudé Garden of Contemplation.

Reverend Chikane says the country needs inspirational leaders. “When people walk around and see the T-shirt of Madiba all the imagination will come in as to what Madiba was about, what he stood for and what this country is about.”

“When you go to that garden then you are reminded about Beyers Naudé an Afrikaner who crossed the line and identified himself as part of the people ,who fought for the people but you can only see it in an artistic way.”
